Top recommended items you should have before you bring your new Frenchie home!
You have done your research, found a French Bulldog breeder you trust (that is us, Touché Frenchie), and selected the puppy of your dreams, but now you must wait – what are you supposed to do while you anxiously wait for the new family puppy to come home? Shop for your new fur baby of course!
There is no better way to release that built-up stress than getting your new family member all the essentials to make sure they know you love them, and that they are home. Below you will find must-have items we have purchased directly through Amazon for our own Frenchies.

Crate
A crate is a must have during the house-training process, and most importantly it should always be their safe place! We have been using BestPet as our go to brand for a few reasons, they are durable (we have used the same crate on multiple of our Frenchies during the house-training process), easy to clean, and easy to store.
Playpen
A playpen is another particularly important item to have during the initial first weeks of bringing home your new puppy. Having a playpen enables your puppy to enjoy playtime without having to be in their crate the entire time. As you may have seen either in person when visiting our puppies or through FaceTime/Zoom calls, we have an entire room dedicated to our puppies. This room is our “playpen”, while we have not used the Yaheetech Foldable Playpen, the reviews from customers who have the product, and the fact that you can integrate the crate and playpen without having to give up space inside the crate.
Carrier
A carrier is one of those essentials that one might often forget how important they are until they need one. We have used the Amazon Basics carrier for the last four years. What we really liked about this product by Amazon Basics is how durable, practical, and easy to store is this carrier. We highly recommend using a carrier when picking up your new puppy, when taking them to the vet since they should not be on the floor at the vets’ office until they have had all their shots to avoid them catching anything while they continue to build on their immunity.
Pee Pads
When it comes to pee pads you always want that reassurance that it will do the job, and let us tell you that these definitely get the job done. They are very absorbent which is why we have not tried any others.
Food Bowl
When it comes to food and water bowls, always select stainless steel. This helps teach your new puppy that their food bowl is not a toy, is easier to clean, and keeps bacteria-free. We personally like this specific food and water bowl because of the elevated option it provides and its sleek style. Our Huskies like them too!
Poop Bags
Not all poop bags are made equal – that is why we stand behind this recommendation. These poop bags are not only of great quality but are meant to be environmentally friendly. We love the lavender-scented option since it helps “disguise” our puppies’/dogs’ poop.
Poop Bag Dispenser
When it comes to poop bag dispensers there are honestly many great options out there, and it will mostly depend on your personal style. We recommend this particular dispenser because of its design and the fact it is made by the same manufacturers as the poop bags we recommended previously.
Puppy Food
We have been using Earthborn Holistic Puppy/Dog food since 2017. When researching for foods that would work best for our two huskies, Athena & Loki, and our new Frenchie, Drake we had quite a few things that we had to check off our MUST-MEET checklist. After reviewing a few foods, we decided this was the brand for us, and let me tell you we are glad we picked such a great brand. We have been feeding our Frenchies the Ventures version of this brand, and re-introduce our pregnant mommas back to a mixture of puppy food around week three of pregnancy. We continue feeding the mixture until we start weaning the puppies, and use this puppy food when making our mush as we slowly transition them to complete solids.
Car Booster Seat
Although, you might not be using the car booster seat right away. This is one of those products you might find very useful down sooner rather than later if you are one to bring your pup with you on your weekly “Sunday-Fundays” or any other outings. Remember that just like us, our puppies/dogs need to be secured and safe while in the car in case of an accident.
Dog bed
Last but not least, a comfy bed —other than yours duh — we highly recommend a doggy bed that is both comfortable, yet firm. A bed that is too plush does not give your Frenchie the support it truly needs. The reason we love BEDSURE is be cause they have so many amazing beds that are highly recommended, stylish, but most importantly they the much needed support your puppy needs for a power nap, or a full night’s rest.
